"Why is Kurau so expensive?" Kurau is a luxury that's impossible to find in wet markets, and even we don't have it in stock all the time. Kurau flesh is finer, tastes milder, with smaller flakes even in big fish. The skin of kurau is thinner, less gelatinous, and less strongly flavoured. In Cantonese Kurau is "Shun Fong".

Kurau is known the more premium species and is a popular fish for maternity purposes as it is believed to boost milk supply for new mothers. If you're looking for confinement food, healthy nutrition before childbirth, or great fish to make baby food, this is what you're looking for.
